Workshops

Workshop

Northwest SEED provides workshops to community members to increase their ability to support renewable energy project development. Our ongoing workshop schedule can be found by visiting our Calendar. Some examples of past workshops are:

Rural Renewables Program

Northwest SEED and the Washington Department of Commerce worked together to assist rural communities in Washington with renewable energy development. A webinar, hosted by Rural Energy Development for Washington staff, discussed grants, utility incentives, tax subsidies and financing support available to help farmers and rural small businesses purchase new energy-efficient equipment or install small-scale renewable energy systems.

Business Opportunities in Wind Energy (BOWiE)

In 2012, Northwest SEED worked with SEWEDA, the Port of Walla Walla, and Walla Walla Community College to develop the Business Opportunities in Wind Energy (BOWiE) project. The purpose of BOWiE was to educate small business owners and locals seeking employment in the region on the basics of wind energy development, help rural small businesses in the project area identify opportunities to participate in the development, maintenance, and operation of current and future wind developments, and assist individuals seeking employment in the wind industry to acquire the skills necessary to secure living wage jobs. The project culminated in a roundtable event in Walla Walla, and the slide show from the presentation is here.
