Seattle named a 'Solar America City'

3-28-08 The City of Seattle has been selected by the US Department of Energy as one of twelve 2008 Solar America Cities. DOE funding was awarded for the implementation of the Emerald City Solar Initiative, a partnership between Northwest SEED, Seattle City Light, the Seattle Department of Planning and Development, the Office of Mayor Greg Nickels, and Washington CTED. The Initiative aims to overcome the barriers to widespread deployment of solar energy, and dramatically increase residential, commercial, City-owned, and community-scale solar energy use.
