BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Courtney Flora, Chair
Courtney Flora is a partner in the Seattle law firm
of McCullough Hill, PS. Her practice focuses on land
use and environmental law, with an emphasis on sustainable
development projects. Courtney formerly worked as
a deputy prosecuting attorney for Snohomish County,
where she advised County clients and the County Council
on land use matters, and she served as a judicial
clerk in the Washington State Court of Appeals. Courtney
has a B.A. degree with high honors and distinction
from the University of Michigan and a J.D. and Certificate
in Environmental and Natural Resources Law from the
Northwestern School of Law of Lewis & Clark College.
She lives in West Seattle with her husband and young
daughter.
Carrie Dolwick, Vice Chair
Carrie currently works for the Transportation Choices Coalition (TCC) as the State Policy Director. Prior to the TCC, Carrie was a policy associate with the Northwest Energy Coalition. Carrie's experience includes researching and promoting economic development through emerging technologies, renewable energy, smart growth, and lobbying for these forward thinking policies in Olympia. She also brings her knowledge of public and business administration. Her past experience includes an promoting policies to increase upfront financing for energy efficiency and distributed energy generation, state by state energy policy analysis, and leading the acquisition of DOE grant money for bio-diesel infrastructure development. Carrie holds an MPA from the Evans School of Public Administration at the University of Washington. She also holds a graduate level certificate in Environmental Management.
Linnea Eng, Treasurer
Linnea is a Senior Project Manager for CH2M HILL,
a global engineering and project delivery consulting
firm. She has fourteen years of experience in managing
and delivering complex projects including hazardous
waste, wind energy permitting, and sustainability
projects for a wide variety of government and industry
clients. Her background also includes service as a
volunteer in the Peace Corps in Mali, West Africa,
and as a trainer and Country Desk Officer for several
other African countries. She is a graduate of the
Leadership Tomorrow-Seattle program and an active
community volunteer. Linnea holds a B.A in Mathematics
from St. Olaf College and an M.S. in Environmental
Engineering and Science from the Johns Hopkins University.
Amy Shatzkin, Secretary
Amy Shatzkin is the Sustainability Manager for Sound Transit, an organization created by voters to plan, build and operate safe and reliable regional train and bus service. Prior to Sound Transit, Amy served as a Program Manager for ICLEI-Local Governments for Sustainability U.S.A., a member organization of local governments implementing progressive energy and sustainability policies nationwide. Amy currently works on the development of a national sustainability rating system to offer standardized guidance and metrics for local governments. Prior to that, Amy led ICLEI's Pacific Northwest Office where she provided technical and policy support around energy issues to 65+ governments in the region. Amy has worked as an urban planner and environmental educator in both the private and public sectors and holds a Master of Environmental Management degree from the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies.
Tim Crosby,
Board Member
Tim Crosby is focused on regional economic growth
and vitality through energy and food system development.
Alongside his work for Northwest SEED, Tim works on
interrelated market, logistics, outreach, and policy
issues supporting the growth of a vibrant local food
system, including making the connections between climate
change and the amount of energy used to grow and move
the food we eat. Previously, Tim served on the Agriculture
Technical Working Group for Washington State's Climate
Advisory Team, the steering committee for the Washington
Farm to School Connections Team, and as a member of
the Seattle Schools Nutrition Advisory Council. Tim
is a trustee for the Carolyn Foundation and spent
15 years as a professional photographer and graphic
designer. Tim holds an MBA in Sustainable Business
from Bainbridge Graduate Institute and lives in Edmonds,
Washington with his wife, two daughters, and various
pets.
Jay Arnold, Board Member
Jay Arnold combines his interest in technology and
public policy with work in renewable energy, sustainable
development, and transportation policy. Through his
consulting firm, WINtegrated Solutions, Mr. Arnold
helps small businesses and organizations with interactive
web site development, online advertising, and campaigns.
Previously, Mr. Arnold worked at Microsoft as a project
manager in Microsoft's MSN division, launching the
MSN Premium product. He also led engineering teams
working on Internet Explorer and Windows 95. Mr. Arnold
holds a B.S. in Computer Science from the University
of Colorado, Boulder and also serves on the board
of Futurewise (formerly 1000 Friends of Washington).
Don Andre, Board Member
Don is currently the Associate Director of the Campion Foundation, which is focused on preserving wilderness in western North America, eliminating homelessness, and non-profit capacity building. Don served as Executive Director of Northwest SEED from mid-2004 through mid-2007. Prior to that he worked for over 20 years with Spokane Neighborhood Action Programs, where he designed, implemented, and administered a wide range of low-income housing and energy programs. While at SNAP, Don developed skills in non-profit finances, human resources, and operations while advocating for affordable housing and clean energy.
