OTHER RENEWABLES
NWSEED offers technical assistance
to communities looking to develop anaerobic digestion,
woody biomass, geothermal, and other renewable energy
projects.
Clallam Biomass
With funding from the Washington State Department
of Ecology, Northwest SEED led an education program
focused on the development of a woody biomass energy
project in Clallam County.
Over the previous few years momentum
had been building in Clallam County to develop projects
that utilize the region’s wood waste to meet
energy needs and enhance the local economy. Northwest
SEED and partners, the Institute for Washington’s
Future and Northwest Cooperative
Development Center, worked with Clallam County
leaders in government, business, forestry and tribes
to build on this momentum. We developed a guidebook
and conducted a workshop series on fast pyrolysis,
an innovative biomass energy technology designed to
enhance opportunities for business plan development.
The guide is available here.
