CONSERVATION AND EFFICIENCY

Northwest SEED recognizes that energy conservation and efficiency are presently the most powerful tools in our transition to a clean energy future. In all of our projects we strongly encourage communities to first evaluate energy efficiency solutions before considering generation through renewable energy technologies.

To date, Northwest SEED has assisted 12 tribes in Washington State to implement energy efficiency programs. These programs included an effort to replace energy hog refrigerators with new, energy efficient models while providing energy conservation education to residents. This program has proven to be a good gateway program to other weatherization efforts.

In addition to the refrigerator replacement programs, Northwest SEED is coordinating energy booths at events on reservations and establishing light bulb swap programs with the tribal housing authorities.

Today, our community-based clean energy solutions are transforming the way we power the future.

Now, more than ever, we need to conserve energy and develop our renewable energy sources. That's what Northwest SEED is all about.
